Biography
Tim Presley, the California-based musician famed for founding the psychedelic rock bands White Fence and Darker My Love and for prior stints in Strange Boys and the Fall, channels his experimental solo work through the W-X project. Departing from the guitar-focused approach of his other endeavors, Presley here deploys drum machines and synthesizers to generate sprawling, disordered free-form soundscapes that echo the collage-style experimental rock of Faust around the time of The Faust Tapes as well as Madlib’s blunted beat excursions. Castle Face, the label run by John Dwyer that had already issued two White Fence albums, released W-X’s self-titled debut in November of 2015.
