Biography
In the initial years of the 1980s, dub producer Lloyd "Bullwackie" Barnes ran an active studio in the Bronx. There he recorded a broad roster of reggae vocalists and issued the results on his Wackies imprint. The singers who worked with Barnes, whose nickname is Bullwackie, ranged from Horace Andy, Wayne Jarrett, and Junior Delahaye to Love Joys, Naggo Morris, Meditations, Stranger Cole, Sugar Minott, Clive Field Marshall, and Leroy Sibbles. This informal circle later became known collectively as the Wackies. Early in the 2000s the Berlin-based Basic Channel label, recognized for its dub-techno releases, reissued a large quantity of the Wackies catalog.
