Biography
Privately tutored in piano, orchestration, and conducting by instructors across Brazil and Europe, Burle Marx embarked on a 1925-26 European tour as pianist. Back in Brazil he established and directed the Rio de Janeiro PO. During his later years in the USA he appeared as conductor at the 1939 New York World's Fair and gave instruction in piano and composition at the Settlement Music School, Philadelphia. Cantatas, choral pieces, and songs form part of his output.
