Walter Lure

Walter Lure, an initial participant in Johnny Thunders' Heartbreakers, sustained a steady professional path amid associations with unpredictable figures. Following the formal dissolution of the Heartbreakers in 1977—a span when the group still delivered occasional shows until Johnny Thunders' passing in 1991—Lure collaborated with the Ramones on the albums Subterranean Jungle and Too Tough to Die, issued a single alongside the Blessed, and launched multiple outfits including the Hurricanes, the Heroes, and the Waldos. The Waldos unveiled their first album, Rent Party, in 1995. Lure kept appearing at New York City venues with the Waldos well into the 21st century. On August 22, 2020, Walter Lure died at age 71 after a brief battle with cancer.
