Biography
Formed in 2002, the energetic indie rock quintet Washington Social Club originated with singer/guitarist Martin Royle, bassist Olivia Mancini, and drummer Randall Scope at its core. Their first full-length effort, Catching Looks, came out in 2004 via Badman Recordings, with production handled by Brian McTear of Burning Brides and the Capitol Years. In the wake of that release, the group shared stages with acts including the Hold Steady, Hot Hot Heat, Presidents of the United States of America, and Phantom Planet. Guitar duties were later taken up by Evan Featherstone along with his brother Jared, who also handled keyboards. Years afterward came the follow-up album Bigger Than Your Boyfriend.
