Biography
Renowned for his boleros, Wello Rivas achieved his greatest recognition with the hit "Cenizas," a composition that attained standard status throughout the Spanish-speaking Caribbean and earned one of its most acclaimed versions in Xiomara Alfaro's 1972 recording. In the course of his output from the golden age of Caribbean Latin music, the piece "Ashes" stands as his second-most familiar work. Perez Prado, Lola Beltran, Javier Solis, and numerous additional artists continued to record Rivas' boleros until his death.
