West, Bruce & Laing

After bassist/producer Felix Pappalardi and keyboardist Steve Knight left Mountain, the band's surviving guitarist Leslie West and drummer Corky Laing joined forces with ex-Cream bassist Jack Bruce. This hard rock supergroup released its first album, Why Dontcha, in 1972, and issued the follow-up Whatever Turns You On the subsequent year. The West, Bruce & Laing lineup nevertheless ended quickly, breaking up before the concert document Live 'n' Kickin' reached stores in 1974. West and Laing still collaborated from time to time once the trio had disbanded. Leslie West passed away on December 22, 2020, at age 75.
