Biography
In 2005, four musicians established the indie rock band Western Civ in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Guitarist and singer Rich Henderson joined forces with bassist Jason Briggs, drummer Bryan Cabler, and guitarist Jason Hall; the first three had already known one another from high school. Their initial release, the EP Regent Kingfish Slumberpad, came out on the Hoosierdaddy label on November 5, 2005, with the group’s first live appearances following in 2006. The following year they issued their debut full-length album, Remington Steel Magnolia, on their own. Also in 2007 Jason Hall withdrew from full-time membership, after which the remaining trio relocated to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Hall still contributed from time to time, as did Kemper McDowell and Ken Larson. Mitch Easter produced Western Civ’s second album, Shower the People You Love with Gold, which appeared on March 17, 2009.
