Biography
White Hex is an Australian duo drawing from the most ominous and gloomily romantic strains of post-punk, synth pop, and coldwave. The lineup comprises Tara Green and Jimi Kritzler, who also play in the fiery post-punk revivalists Slug Guts. The pair, acquainted since their teenage years, launched the project in 2011 after crossing paths once more in Brisbane and starting to record together. After spending time in Egypt they moved on to Berlin, where they cut their brooding debut mini-album Heat; the European label AVANT issued it in 2012, with a subsequent Australian release arriving via Nihilistic Orbs. Kritzler and Green eventually came back to their homeland and settled in Melbourne, where they turned to fresh material. Taking cues from Italo disco, high fashion, and ’80s techno, among other sources, they joined forces with producer Alex Akers on Gold Nights, a sleek set of songs Felte Records put out in mid-2014.
