Biography
Originating from England, Donovan Whycliffe grew up in a twelve-member household steeped in music, where his parents steered him toward vocal performances in Pentecostal choirs during his formative years. Recognition first surfaced once he delivered a demo tape to Tim Andrews at Nottingham’s Submission Records, generating enough excitement to attract a swarm of A&R executives and culminating in a deal with MCA Records. Success arrived in 1991 via the hit single ‘Roughside’, accompanied by a full-length album. He resurfaced in 1993 with the single ‘Heaven’ and followed it the next year with another album. Tim Simenon of Bomb The Bass and C.J. Mackintosh supplied remix expertise, while the second album, Journeys Of The Mind, was helmed by producers Chris Porter, renowned for his work with George Michael, and Simenon.
