Biography
Singer/songwriter Wil Seabrook credits his European upbringing with shaping both his melodic style and his thoughtful, egalitarian outlook on the world. Born in North Carolina, he relocated with his family to Germany at nine and spent time exploring China, Thailand, and New Zealand before the Seabrooks resettled in Boston. There, his growing passion for music led him to complete an album as a senior-year high-school assignment. Producer John Ryan noticed the recording, a development that prompted the teenager to pursue his songwriting more deliberately. Seabrook issued his first, self-titled collection on the independent Chicago Kid imprint in 2000, drawing notice beyond the United States. A later trek across England alongside Pretenders guitarist Robbie McIntosh secured him a contract with Maverick/WB. Under the Wil Seabrook Band name, the group’s follow-up album, It’s Your Life and They’re Living It for You, appeared in 2003.
