Multi-talented musician Wanda Vick established the five-piece all-woman band Wild Rose after launching her career as a session player and side player in Lynn Anderson's group. Her first partnership with drummer Nancy Given Prout took place inside Right Combination, Porter Wagoner's all-female band. Former New Coon Creek Girls Pamela Gadd and Pam Perry, both of whom sang and played guitar, later joined Vick and Prout. Bass guitarist and singer Kathy Mac, previously a member of Tina Carroll & the Nashville Satins, completed the lineup. The group initially performed under the name Miss Behavin' before adopting Wild Rose and signing with Universal Records in 1988. Assisted by James Stroud, they recorded the album Breakin' New Ground, whose title track climbed into the Top 20 the next year, shortly before the label closed. Wild Rose performed on the 1990 television special Night of 100 Stars and, later that same year, signed with Capitol to collaborate with producer Jimmy Bowen. Capitol reissued the debut album, which reached the Top 50 on the country album charts and yielded the additional Top 40 single "Go Down Swingin'." That year the band shot its first video for "Everything He Touches," a track from the second album Straight and Narrow. Soon after the 1991 release of their third album Listen to Your Heart, the members of Wild Rose parted ways.
