Biography
Originating from a figure in James Herbert’s novel The Rats, Willard assembled in Seattle, USA, during 1991, with Johnny Clint handling vocals, Mark Spiders on guitar, Steve Wied behind the drums, Otis P. Otis also on guitar, and Darren Peters on bass. Roadracer Records signed the group that same year. Their opening release, Steel Mill—carrying the subtitle The Sound Of Fuck!—appeared in July 1992 and delivered a forceful, unyielding first statement whose influences stretched from longstanding metal touchstones like Black Sabbath to the hardcore-leaning work of Nirvana and Henry Rollins.
