Biography
Little-known among English composers, Corkine may himself have performed on the lyra viol, an inference drawn from the fact that every surviving piece credited to him was scored for that instrument. Of his Ayres, the two that achieved the greatest notice remain "Come live with me and be my love" and "Sweet sweet let me goe". Melodic sweetness dominates these otherwise harmonically nascent works.
