Biography
Alabama native Wiley Barner, also identified in some references as Willie Barnes, entered the world on April 28, 1900, though certain accounts place his birth a year earlier. On August 15, 1927, in Birmingham, Alabama, he committed two titles to tape for Gennett Records: “My Gal Treats Me Mean” and “If You Want a Good Woman - Get One Long and Tall.” Jimmy Allen supplied piano, Will Jennings contributed guitar, and Barner delivered the vocals, thereby completing the entirety of his documented recordings.
