Biography
Willy Muñoz, an Uruguayan musician, educator, and author, first took up his instrument during adolescence before turning professional at age twenty, when he assembled the band Vendabá in 1980. The early 1990s found him delivering a well-received appearance at Buenos Aires’ Mardel Jazz Festival. In his role as instructor, Muñoz issued the percussion manual Metodos Doble Pedal y Doble Bombo for the benefit of beginners and students alike. He later co-authored El Toque Del Candombe (Playing Candombe) with Hugo Machado and Jorge Sadi, a volume devoted to Afro-Uruguayan percussion techniques.
