WindSync, a wind quintet, delivers an eclectic mix of material spanning modern classical pieces, folk traditions, and pop songs, all infused with a playful spirit. The ensemble has issued recordings on the Bright Shiny Things and Azica labels.

The group originated in April 2009 at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Although membership has shifted over time, founding flutist Garrett Hudson has remained throughout. As of 2024 the lineup consists of oboist Noah Kay, clarinetist Graeme Steele Johnson, bassoonist Kara LaMoure, and hornist Anni Hochhalter. The name WindSync, inspired by the boy band NSYNC, was adopted in September of that year, and the ensemble presented its inaugural public concert the next month. Its first nationwide tour followed in 2010. Residencies have formed a prominent part of the group’s activity, beginning with an engagement at the Grand Teton Music Festival in Wyoming in 2012. A New York debut at Carnegie Hall took place in 2013. The debut album, Sketches, appeared on the Disc Makers label in 2016.

WindSync claimed first prize in the Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition in 2012 and won the 2016 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, later earning an additional award at the 2018 M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition in Michigan. Performances have taken the ensemble to prominent locations such as the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, along with Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. The players have distinguished themselves by performing from memory to foster direct audience engagement, a practice uncommon among chamber ensembles. Appearances scheduled for the 2023-2024 season include the Shalin Liu Performing Arts Center in Massachusetts, Chamber Music Tulsa, and the Phoenix Chamber Music Society. The 2022 release All Worlds All Times, issued on Bright Shiny Things, contains works by Marc Mellits, Ivan Trevino, and Miguel del Aguila. In 2024 the group transferred to Azica for the album WindSync Plays Miguel del Aguila: Music for Winds.
