Biography
Hailing from Michigan, Miles Coleman produces richly textured, serene, and soothing electronic tracks in a downtempo style, performing under the moniker Wing Vilma.
Born in Grand Rapids, Coleman received classical piano instruction before launching into electronic composition as Michigami during 2014. Their creations, which fuse smooth jazz-infused harmonies, complex rhythmic patterns, and natural acoustic elements, quickly drew interest from the Detroit label Young Heavy Souls, resulting in the 2015 release of the Tape C cassette. Coleman persisted in crafting music while collecting audio samples during journeys throughout the United States and to China. In 2017, upon taking the name Wing Vilma, the first full-length project Safe by Night came out two years later. The 2021 album Spirit Practice, which embodies Coleman's affinity for nature alongside insights into their trans/non-binary self, followed.
