Jimmy Winston led the short-lived psychedelic band Winston's Fumbs, an outfit whose chief distinction rested on his brief tenure with the Small Faces. He contributed to the Small Faces' earliest singles until Ian McLagan replaced him. Before forming Winston's Fumbs, Winston had released one single as frontman of Jimmy Winston and the Reflections in 1966. The group's other member to attain wider notice was keyboardist Tony Kaye, who subsequently joined Yes.

Winston's Fumbs issued their only single, "Real Crazy Apartment"/"Snow White," on RCA in the U.K. during June 1967. The record offered a strong example of hard mod-psychedelia propelled by swirling and forceful guitars. "Real Crazy Apartment" blended hard mod pop with soul-inflected high harmonies from the backing singers, whereas "Snow White," despite its B-side placement, proved more psychedelic and arresting as its melodic story-song verses transitioned into manic-tempoed, jazzy passages anchored by frenzied organ. The single stands as more than a collector's item for Small Faces enthusiasts, counting among the finer obscure British psych releases of 1967, and both tracks—most often "Snow White"—have resurfaced on unauthorized and official compilations. The two songs appear on the 1996 German CD The Definitive Anthology of the Small Faces, released by Repertoire.
