Biography
Wishmountain emerged as an almost scholarly endeavor in sampling, launched by Matthew Herbert, who is known through his Doctor Rockit alias. Its initial releases came in 1996 as the EPs Radio and Video, both issued via the Evolution imprint of Global Communication. Phonography then put out the double-pack EP Wishmountain Is Dead, while a distinct CD bearing the identical title gathered together a substantial portion of Wishmountain's earlier recordings.
