Pioneering the Hungarian metal landscape, Without Face stands among its earliest innovators. Fronted by Juliette, the ensemble delivers expansive, otherworldly metal characterized by atmospheric grandeur. Ethereal vocal lines combine with precise instrumental execution to forge a singular aesthetic reminiscent of Enya encountering Iron Maiden. The lineup of Juliette alongside vocalist Andras, guitarist Roomy, bassist Akos, keyboardist Sasza, and drummer Peter coalesced in 1997 to establish Without Face, producing a demo by the start of 1998. Their initial full-length effort, Deep Inside, appeared domestically via Hammer Music Productions during June 2000. This compelling album, oscillating between shadowy and invigorating moods, subsequently reached American audiences through Dark Symphonies. The follow-up Astronomicon arrived in 2002. Progressive metal compositions featuring luminous keyboard textures juxtaposed with intense guitar work explore motifs drawn from H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe, resulting in an astral voyage of operatic scale that alternates between ominous and elevating tones.
