Wonderlick

In December 2000 Jay Blumenfield and Tim Quirk, Wonderlick’s two founding members, united to produce complimentary tracks intended for a website. Earlier they had appeared together in assorted lineups, most prominently as half of the smart punk-pop outfit Too Much Joy, yet the fresh undertaking yielded a concept album assembled across twelve months. Wonderlick steadily issued free individual songs from the sessions through online channels until the project reached completion, drawing on assistance from associates such as Spark vocalist Wendy Allen and magician Penn Jillette. Future Farmer Recordings issued the finished album in 2002, and the duo’s second effort, Topless at the Arco Arena, followed seven years later.
