The rock-dance fusion trio World Domination Enterprises attained cult status only after retirement, having drawn scant notice throughout their working years. Keith Dobson handled guitar and vocals, Steve Jameson played bass, and Digger sat behind the drums. Dobson had previously drummed for Here And Now, issued Let’s Get Professional with his earlier group 012, and founded the cassette label Fuck Off Records.

The band surfaced in 1985, staging a rapid succession of UK dates that aligned with the Live Aid moment. Their debut single and signature track, ‘Asbestos Lead Asbestos’, followed; its gravelly, savage vocal approach set Dobson’s environmental themes against a rumbling, bass-heavy resonance. In contrast, ‘Hotsy Girl’ paid tribute to their Morris Minor and the sport of stock car racing.

As the decade progressed, World Domination Enterprises performed at numerous warehouse parties of the early acid house period, among them several staged by the Mutoid Waste Company. Two albums appeared before the group dissolved after a Russian tour once Digger chose to embrace the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Dobson then settled in Spain, returning to London only in 1993. Jameson subsequently joined Steve Smith (ex-Vapors) in the band Cut, while Digger continues to share his convictions through the latest editions of Watchtower.
