Biography
Originating in 2008 as frontman Andrew Burr’s solo endeavor, Woven Bones crafts grimy, blissed-out noise pop that nods to Beach Fossils and the Fresh & Onlys. While based in Orlando, FL, Burr chose the name to symbolize crossing fingers for good luck. In a 2010 Spinner interview he stated, “I was coming out of a pretty rough period in my life, and [Woven Bones] was the thing that gave me some solid direction.” After relocating to Austin, TX, Burr completed the group with bassist Matty and drummer James; the latter left amicably soon after arrival, and drummer Carolyn joined in 2010 to solidify the lineup. During the band’s first two years, its earliest singles appeared on Sweet Rot Records, Needless Records, Hardly Art, and HoZac Records, while Zoo Music released the EP The Minus Touch. HoZac issued the debut long-player In and Out and Back Again in spring 2010.
