Biography
Wyatt Rice, sibling to Tony Rice, handled guitar duties inside his brother’s bluegrass outfit before launching his own ensemble in the late 1980s. Across subsequent years the Wyatt Rice band produced two albums under separate lineups. Its opening configuration, a sextet that featured violinist Rickie Simpkins and mandolinist Ray Legere, issued New Market Gap in 1989. By the mid-’90s the unit had slimmed to a quintet, and that revised roster delivered Picture in a Tear in 1996.
