An eerie endeavor called Xakei conjures visions of the 1800s and spectral drawing rooms through pieces played on a vintage piano suffering from severe mistuning. By mid-2024 the track “Merry Go Round of Life (Old Piano)” had amassed enough attention on TikTok to land at number 13 on the Billboard TikTok Top 50, prompting the anonymous project to enlist VOID Creative Group and Intertone Records for wider online distribution. Later that summer the outfit issued further material, among them the waltz “Old Doll” in August.
