Biography
Y-Titty, whose name derives from the everyday shorthand for "YouTube Dummies," emerged as a three-man musical comedy act whose popularity in Germany was built entirely on videos posted to the YouTube platform. Philipp Laude, performing under the name Phil, and Matthias Roll, known as TC, both born in 1991, established the project in 2006. Their output consisted of parodies of hit recordings by Eminem and Rihanna, along with cinematic spoofs and wholly original songs and sketches; the resulting online traction proved substantial, ultimately bringing 2.5 million subscribers and 490 million views to their principal YouTube channel. The lineup became a trio in 2009 when Oğuz Yılmaz, performing as OG and also born in 1991, joined the group.
The act moved into recorded music in 2011 with the single "Standertime," which reached number 48 on the German pop chart. Their next release, "Der Letzte Sommer," remained on the singles chart for 11 weeks and peaked at number 15. In 2013 the group entered the German Top Ten when "Halt Dein Maul" climbed to number 5, simultaneously registering Top Ten placements in both Austria and Switzerland. The track appeared on the band's debut album, Stricksocken Swagger, issued in summer 2013 and registering as a major domestic success.
