Y'all

As a lowbrow, southern-fried, trailer-park Simon & Garfunkel, the pair proves remarkably adept at shedding light on the gay experience. Performing under the name Y'all, they have drawn consistently warm and even tender notices from both gay and mainstream outlets for their stage show, which features the six-foot three-inch Jay Byrd in his lucky green dress alongside shirtless Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer in worn overalls. Their music blends rural Americana—gospel, country & western, and bluegrass—delivered in hee-haw fashion and anchored by rich vocal harmonies. James Dean Jay Byrd, son of a tent revivalist from Okey-Dokey, TX, and nephew of a trailer-home salesman who also cross-dressed, partners with Cheslik-DeMeyer, a onetime corn farmer from Corn Flake, IN, who was the seventeenth child born to former Catholics.
