Biography
Yamon Yamon originated in Sweden as a band whose literate approach draws from mid-'90s indie rock fused with Afro-beat elements, echoing the varied textures associated with Vampire Weekend alongside the reflective tone of Marching Band. The project began in 2002 when Christoffer Öberg on drums and Jon Lennblad handling vocals and guitar connected while enrolled in music studies in Uppsala. Soon afterward guitarist Joakim Labraaten joined as the third participant, enabling the trio to lay down six tracks under the guidance of producer Daniel Vegerfors. Several personnel shifts occurred prior to the first release, including Labraaten’s departure, after which bassist John Lindell and guitarist Anton Toorell arrived to complete the lineup. Tenderversion then signed the band, issuing their self-titled debut EP in 2008. The same imprint followed with the full-length album This Wilderlessness in early 2010.
