Biography
Yearning Kru hails from Croydon, England, where he works as an enigmatic electronic musician, visual artist, and performer, shaping jagged, unpredictable compositions built from samples and steeped in fantasy and sci-fi themes. Matching the enigmatic, patchwork quality of his visual work, his sound avoids straightforward storytelling, instead favoring thinly populated yet richly textured extraterrestrial environments that sometimes erupt into harsh, grainy distortion. He initiated online music releases in 2010 with the digital EP Diyadh. In 2013 the album Cracked Lacquer/Vanadium, culled from twelve hours of improvised sessions, surfaced on patten’s Kaleidoscope imprint along with a companion remix EP. He subsequently joined Brood Ma’s Quantum Natives multimedia collective, issuing Forways and the remix set Fifth Ascents via the platform in 2014. After further digital drops and remixes created for Brood Ma and Joane Skyler, his first vinyl outing, Copper Vale, appeared in 2016 as a joint release between Planet Mu and Kuedo’s Knives label.
