Biography
Drawing from indie rock, techno, and hip-hop, Yes Boss unleashed a series of vinyl singles across Britain’s dance and garage underground during 2006. The Leeds, England duo—vocalist and rapper Noah, born Noah Brown, alongside electro beat-maker Gavron, born Gavin Lawson—earned unusually broad rotation on radio and in prominent clubs, an advantage tied to their Dance to the Radio imprint. Sharp wit, stinging sarcasm, and a fascination with horror movies shaped Noah’s contributions, which surfaced on tracks such as “Indie Kids” and “Tongues in Knots”; the latter featured labelmate Tom Woodhead, frontman of ¡Forward, Russia!, and reached BBC’s Top 30 independent singles chart that year. Momentum from this exposure carried the pair into 2007, when they released their first full-length effort, Look Busy.
