Biography
Yokosawa Shunichiro, the Japanese singer and songwriter, produces bright melodies that weave through atmospheric dream pop, guitar pop marked by jangle and distortion, and introspective bedroom pop with a stylized, off-kilter atmosphere. Beginning in 2015, he uploaded a succession of home-recorded singles that grew steadily more layered, culminating in the 2018 release of his first album, Haiji.
After relocating to Tokyo in 2015, Yokosawa Shunichiro started posting his initial, more minimal indie pop compositions online, gradually refining his approach through varied instrumental tones and denser sonic layers over subsequent months. More than a dozen tracks had appeared before he issued the laptop-recorded full-length Haiji in Japan during 2018. The following year, Portland’s Day to Day Records brought the album to American audiences, and Yokosawa Shunichiro backed the release with performances across the States.
