Biography
Latin singer Yolanda Duke entered the world in the Dominican Republic before her family relocated to New York in 1969, after which she grew up in the U.S. Tropical music had already emerged as her preferred genre by the time she captured her initial festival prize in 1979. In 1990 she earned New York’s Newcomer Artist Award, followed the next year by the Most Popular Female Vocalist honor. Her first album, Soy Una Fiera, appeared before the La Lupe tribute Nostalgias de La Lupe, which paid homage to the Cuban legend.
