Blending the sonic palettes of Deftones, Mogwai, and a Radiohead variant tilted toward metal yields an experimental, eerie, and aggressively tense result akin to You Judas, the quartet based in the U.K. Originating in Derby, England, this post-rock ensemble specializes in erratic shifts between volume extremes, featuring Jay Dean on vocals and guitar—who doubles in Fixit Kid—alongside guitarist Jonny Hill, bassist Olly Toogood, and drummer Ryan Mawbey, the latter contributing assorted field recordings. Their initial offering, Discover Mutiny, emerged in autumn 2005 through Fight Me Records, an imprint founded several years prior by Dean alongside his Fixit Kid associates. Subsequent efforts saw increased emphasis on somber and intense compositions, evident in the theatrical and fluctuating tracks comprising Happiness, which arrived in the first part of 2007.
