Biography
Yung Stakks, a Westside Chicago rapper, drew inspiration from Atlanta trap pioneer Gucci Mane as well as hometown peers Chief Keef and Lil Durk. A 2014 link-up with Bo Deal yielded the single “Problems,” and 2015 brought solo success via the anthem “Stakk Money.” That year also saw the release of the mixtape In My Own Lane, plus an onstage appearance with 50 Cent performing “Stakk Money” when the G-Unit leader’s tour reached Chicago. The next year he teamed with G Herbo for “Sell Dope & Gang Bang.”
Two gunshot wounds in 2017 halted his momentum, yet he resurfaced the following year by building an audience with social-media freestyles. A partnership with BigStack24 produced the 2019 project Camouflage. Stakkaveli arrived in 2020, featuring the G Herbo collaboration “Swing My Door.” In 2021 he delivered the sequel mixtape In My Own Lane 2, and a joint EP with K-Star the King, Royal Money 2, surfaced in 2022.
