Yuno is a vocalist and composer whose work fuses 1990s alternative rock, synth-pop, rhythm and blues, and additional styles into tracks that remain smooth while standing out for their individuality. On projects such as the 2018 album Moodie and the 2021 single "Somebody," he demonstrates a talent for recontextualization by passing reggae, skate-rock riffs, and trap-tinged beats through a relaxed contemporary filter.

Jacksonville, Florida, is where he was born to a parent from the U.K. and another of Jamaican descent. Although he spent his early years largely on his own, skateboarding introduced him to the music of HIM, AFI, and Rancid. During adolescence he became self-taught on guitar and acquired beat-making skills from his cousin, while also developing abilities in graphic design, photography, and videography alongside his independent recording efforts.

A handful of singles appeared under the name Unouomedude, among them the 2011 release Frequency 7" on Old Flame, before he adopted the moniker Yuno for the beachy 2012 track "Sunlight." That was followed by the dreamy, R&B-inflected 2013 song "Grapefruit." Several years passed before his February 2018 debut single for Sub Pop, "No Going Back," after which the label issued his first full-length, Moodie, in May. In 2020 he contributed a version of Beach House’s “Zebra” to the Sub Pop and Hardly Art Got You Covered series, then resurfaced in January 2021 with “Somebody,” a track whose emo and reggae-pop blend reflected the boredom he had felt as a teenager during the COVID-19 quarantine.
