Biography
Zack Lopez, a California-based singer and songwriter, first surfaced toward the close of the 2000s as one member of the influential alt-rock duo Middle Class Rut. After Leisure, the Dreamworks-signed project he had previously formed with drummer Sean Stockham, dissolved, the pair built an independent path as Middle Class Rut, issuing raw and intense indie and alt-rock initially on their own before aligning with the Bright Antenna label. Lopez and Stockham earned notice for urgent tracks addressing social unrest such as “New Low” and “Lifelong Dayshift,” sustaining an active routine of extensive touring and steady recording that produced five EPs and two full-length albums from 2008 until the group entered hiatus in 2013. Lopez began his solo work in 2016 by issuing his first album, Bloodlines.
