Biography
Emerging from Lincoln, Nebraska, the guitar-playing vocal duo Denny Zager and Richard Evans sought fleeting fame through their recording of the futuristic, post-apocalyptic track "In the Year 2525." Zager & Evans ascended to the top of the charts with this Evans-penned single—composed, so the story goes, in a mere thirty minutes—during the summer of 1969, achieving this milestone within weeks of its issuance. By year's close, the albums In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus) and The Early Writing of Zager & Evans had appeared in rapid order, yet the duo's period of hit-making concluded swiftly thereafter. Their last album effort came with the 1971 release Food for the Mind.
