Biography
Established in 2002 within Minneapolis, Minnesota, the progressive metal outfit Zebulon Pike fuses the expansive structures of longstanding acts such as Rush and King Crimson alongside the robust intensity drawn from Pentagram and Judas Priest, resulting in an approach that feels both propulsive and adventurous. This four-piece lineup—guitarists Morgan Berkus and Erik Fratzke, bassist Tom Berg, and drummer Erik Bolen—issued its first recording, And Blood Was Passion, during 2004, then delivered a follow-up effort titled Zebulon Pike II: The Deafening Twilight in 2006. The group unveiled its third full-length, Intransience, in 2008 and supported the release through a series of Midwest dates alongside doom thrashers the Sword and Boris. Its next studio album, Space Is the Corpse of Time, arrived in 2011.
