Biography
In 2001 the Los Angeles quintet Ziroq appeared on the world-music landscape with an arresting blend of styles rooted in multicultural sources. The ensemble took its name from Sirocco, the fabled wind that rises out of the Sahara and travels northward into Southern Europe. Its first recording, a self-titled album, contained the hit single “Closer to Me.” Fronted by singer-songwriter and flamenco guitarist Marcus Nand, Ziroq brings wide-ranging musical insight and polished execution to material sung in both Spanish and English.
