Abingdon Boys School, also styled a.b.s., emerged as a J-rock outfit whose name derived from the renowned English all-boys institution that drew late-twentieth-century attention as the alma mater of Radiohead. Nishikawa Takanori, previously of T.M. Revolution, served as frontman, while Sunao and Shibasaki Hiroshi handled guitar duties and Kishi Toshiyuki managed keyboards along with programming. Additional support personnel comprised Ikuo on bass and Hasegawa Kohji behind the drums. The group’s earliest recorded track, “Stay Away,” appeared on a tribute compilation, after which their debut single, “Innocent Sorrow,” reached listeners in December 2006. A self-titled first album followed in October 2007. The later singles “Nephilim” and “Blade Chord” both received placements in titles for the Playstation and Nintendo Wii consoles.
