Operating under the stylized mononym aldn, Alden Gardner Robinson creates left-field pop from his New York base after growing up in Virginia, fusing indie rock, pop, and trap across projects such as the 2022 EP Good Grief. While still attending high school, he began posting his maximalist hyperpop material online. aldn honed his production abilities during early adolescence, inspired by distinctive acts including Skrillex, Linkin Park, Fog Lake, Fall Out Boy, and A Tribe Called Quest. At the arrival of his debut single, the 2020 track “glittr,” his style had crystallized into a fluid blend of glitchy, arpeggiated synths, trap rhythms, and introspective Auto-Tuned pop. Additional 2021 releases included the singles “2ppl” and “dog eat dog,” the latter featuring Renforshort; both tracks surfaced on his first EP, Greenhouse, issued by the N.Y.C. indie imprint Pack. He followed with the EP Predictable before the end of that year, then delivered Good Grief in 2022.
