Biography
Connecticut native ericdoa blends hyperpop, emo-rap, and trap into music that balances playful energy with underlying tension. Linked to the NeilaWorld collective and performing at times under the Dante Red alias, he has issued the atmospheric, emotionally charged albums COA (2020) and things with wings (2022), along with tracks alongside hyperpop and digicore figures such as quinn, glaive, and daine. His third album, DOA, released in 2024, leans further into shoegaze and alternative rock textures.
Born Eric George Lopez in Connecticut in 2002, he first recorded under the name Killeric and put out the EP Bleed, Vol. 1 in 2018. He soon adopted the ericdoa moniker, issuing DOA in 2019 while shifting from stark, trap-rooted rap toward material shaped by emo and alternative rock. Early 2020 brought the full-length Public Target, followed by the introduction of his Dante Red persona via the bitcrushed single “movinglikeazombie,” later featured on the Hi, I’m Dante EP. That same year included joint work with quinn, glaive, SEBii, and Kurtains, culminating in the November arrival of COA. Interscope released the glaive collaboration “Cloak n Dagger” at the start of 2021, while the smooth, danceable R&B cut “Fantasize” surfaced that May. His second studio effort, things with wings, followed in 2022. The 2023 track “>one” was created for Riot Games’ tactical shooter VALORANT, and 2024’s DOA, his third full-length, tempered some of the glitch-heavy, high-impact qualities of earlier releases.
