Songwriter and producer Lil Aaron fuses rap, pop, trap, emo, and punk into a distinctive, skewed musical style. Beyond issuing multiple EPs on his own and with the alternative hip-hop outfit Boyfriendz, he also crafts material for acts including Liam Payne, Icona Pop, Lizzo, and Blackbear.

Born Aaron Jennings Puckett in 1994 in Indiana, he grew up in a Christian household that banned secular sounds, yet he uncovered music online and first encountered it through emo and punk groups. Shifting interests later drew him to rap, particularly the wave of independent creators uploading tracks digitally. He ultimately pursued that drive by leaving school, relocating to Los Angeles, and beginning work as a songwriter. Early efforts placed him alongside artists such as Icona Pop, D.R.A.M., Travis Mills, and Kiiara, until he chose to perform select compositions himself. Early in 2017 he dropped his debut single, "Damn," with producer/DJ Y2K, then issued his first EP, Gloing Pain$, that year. He subsequently formed Boyfriendz with Smrtdeath and Lil Lotus, and the group put out its self-titled EP in December.

He continued releasing one solo EP annually, among them 2017’s Rock$tar Famou$ (which included Travis Barker on "Quit"), 2019’s Dark Matter, and 2020’s 808 Rock. Boyfriendz meanwhile delivered their second project, BFZ2, in February 2019. Across roughly a dozen joint tracks from that period, he collaborated with pop star Kim Petras on "Faded" and "Homework," plus bounce queen Big Freedia on "GTFOMF." In 2021 he linked with Ethel Cain for "Michelle Pfeiffer."
