ZillaKami carved an independent path within the trap metal duo City Morgue, where his intense vocal delivery complemented the raw approach of close associate SosMula. After the pair established the trap metal style through City Morgue tracks such as "SHINNERS13" and "33RD BLAKK GLASS," Rogers issued his first solo project, the 2021 mixtape DOG BOY.

Born Junius Rogers in Bay Shore, New York, he initially took part in the punk group Scud Got Quayle before shifting focus to the city's underground rap circuit. During songwriting sessions with 6ix9ine, Rogers began working alongside the rising artist, channeling punk-rooted intensity and unfiltered vocals into rap on the 6ix9ine-featured cuts "Yokai" and "Hellsing Station." He released his first EP, LifeIsAHorrorMovie, during April 2017.

The partnership that redefined his trajectory arrived soon afterward when Rogers connected with SosMula through his brother's employment at a tattoo parlor; together they created the rap duo City Morgue. Their sound, alternately labeled punk rap, trap metal, and nu metal, merged guitar-driven textures with trap's rolling percussion to generate high-impact tracks that bridged rap and rock. Breakthrough followed with the 2018 Be Patient EP and its underground standout "Nitro Cell," then the intense "33RD BLAKK GLASS," which introduced their approach to broader rap audiences. Through City Morgue, Vol. 1 (2018), City Morgue Vol. 2 (2019), and Toxic Boogaloo (2020), the duo helped pioneer trap metal, delivering a series of aggressive, gothic tracks ("SHINNERS13," "ARSON," "NECK BRACE") alongside darker, inward-looking material ("DRAINO," "THE BALLOONS").

As City Morgue accumulated millions of streams, ZillaKami advanced his solo output in 2021 with "Chains" and the Lil Uzi Vert-assisted "Badass." The long-awaited debut mixtape DOG BOY appeared that September, balancing hardcore and melodic approaches while further shaping Rogers' artistic voice.
