Biography
Emerging in 2020 under the stylized mononym Jxdn, pronounced Jaden, Dallas native Jaden Isaiah Hossler established himself as a singer, songwriter, and social media personality whose style merges pop-punk, rock, and trap influences. After joining Travis Barker’s DTA Records, he issued his first full-length project, the 2021 album Tell Me About Tomorrow, which included the track “Wanna Be” alongside Machine Gun Kelly. Additional releases such as “Beautiful Boy,” “Sober,” and “Chrome Hearted” preceded his second album, When the Music Stops, which arrived in 2024.
Hossler spent his early childhood in Dallas before the family moved to Tennessee. Raised in a Christian environment, he absorbed classic rock and pop during his formative period. By his final year of high school, depression had taken hold, and he found comfort in the music of Juice Wrld and XXXTentacion. In 2019 he began posting on TikTok, where a substantial following developed rapidly. His debut single, “Comatose,” surfaced in early 2020 and drew the attention of blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, who placed the newcomer on his Elektra imprint DTA Records. Four further singles followed that year, among them “Pray” and “Tonight,” the latter featuring Puerto Rican rapper Iann Dior. The Better Off Dead EP closed out 2020, after which Jxdn opened 2021 with a rock rendition of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License.”
The full-length debut Tell Me About Tomorrow reached listeners in July 2021. Barker’s production and drumming helped shape its energetic pop-punk direction, and the project climbed to number six on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart behind singles “Think About Me” and “Wanna Be” with Machine Gun Kelly. June 2022 brought “Beautiful Boy,” written in tribute to friend and online personality Cooper Noriega, who passed away that month at age 19. Further singles appeared through 2023, including “Sober,” “Friends with Benefits,” and “FUMD” with Amelia Moore.
In June 2023 Jxdn paused live performances to address mental health concerns. Upon returning, he issued the electronic-leaning “Chrome Hearted” under his legal name, Jaden Hossler. He resumed the Jxdn identity in June 2024 with the sophomore album When the Music Stops. Once again working with Travis Barker and Andrew Goldstein, the record balanced punk foundations with introspective pop textures on tracks such as “What the Hell,” “Stray,” and “Sad October.”
