Emerging with a polished indie pop approach and a cozy West Coast atmosphere, lovelytheband first gained traction in 2017 via the single “Broken.” The track gained rapid online traction, reaching the summit of the Billboard Alternative Songs Airplay chart the next year. Further audience growth came through the albums Finding It Hard to Smile (2018) and Conversations with Myself About You (2020), followed by the catchy “Sail Away” from their third full-length, If We're Being Honest, issued in 2023. That release was succeeded in short order by a self-titled LP in 2024 and the one-off single “Jeanie,” a collaboration with the Kooks.

The group came together in West Hollywood during 2016, centering on former Oh Honey member Mitchy Collins alongside guitarist Jordan Greenwald and drummer Sam Price. Their initial offering arrived in July 2017 with the Christian Medice-produced “Broken,” an upbeat and catchy number that swiftly surpassed three million digital streams. After inking a deal with Another Century Records, lovelytheband issued the EP Everything I Could that September and supported Vance Joy and AWOLNATION on the road. Still climbing in April 2018, “Broken” topped the Billboard Alternative Songs Airplay chart. The band’s debut full-length, Finding It Hard to Smile, followed in August under Medice’s continued production and featured the additional single “These Are My Friends.” Extensive touring across North America and Europe preceded the August 2020 arrival of Conversations with Myself About You, which delivered the charting track “Loneliness for Love.” The buoyant “Sail Away” previewed the third album and registered on several U.S. charts after its 2022 release, with If We're Being Honest appearing the next year on the band’s own Happy Accident imprint. They moved swiftly into 2024, unveiling the self-titled lovelytheband album highlighted by the charting single “Nice to Know You,” then joined U.K. band the Kooks for the standalone track “Jeanie.”
