Biography
A Bristol-based electro-indie rock ensemble known for its energetic and melody-focused sound, Coasts came together in 2011 through the combined efforts of Chris Caines on vocals, Liam Willford on guitar, James Gamage on bass, David Goulbourn on keyboards, and Ben Street on drums, all of whom connected during their university years in Bath. The group put out its first single, titled “Stay,” during 2012 and earned positive notice from Welsh BBC broadcaster Huw Stephens. Early in 2013 the band released its initial EP, Paradise. A period of widespread live performances and prominent festival slots ensued, leading to the emergence of two well-received singles, “A Rush of Blood” and “Oceans,” that evoked the styles of Two Door Cinema Club, Foals, and Phoenix. Coasts delivered a self-titled EP on Warner Bros. in 2015, followed by its full-length debut album of the same name in the first part of 2016. Twelve months afterward the band unveiled the single “Heart Stops Beating,” which served as the opening track from its second album, This Life: Vol.1, issued during summer 2017.
