Biography
The Snuts, a Scottish group, deliver an energetic mix of soaring and at times rough-edged indie rock. After self-released singles such as the 2018 track “Seasons” gained traction, the four-piece secured a contract with Parlophone, which helped expose additional numbers including “Juan Belmonte” along with the 2022 album Burn the Empire and the February 2024 release Millennials.
Having known one another since childhood, vocalist and guitarist Jack Cochrane, guitarist Joe McGillveray, bassist Callum Wilson, and drummer Jordan Mackay started performing together at fifteen, crafting material and gigging in their hometown of Whitburn in West Lothian. Three early demo singles surfaced in 2016, followed in 2017 by the Matador EP, which helped build the band’s profile. The arrival of “Seasons” in 2018 produced a genuine streaming success and triggered sold-out concerts. With momentum building, Parlophone signed them in 2019, leading to further streaming attention for cuts such as “Maybe California” and “Juan Belmonte.” After multiple standalone singles and shorter projects, the nine-song Mixtape EP of 2020 marked their most substantial collection yet. Their first full-length, W.L., appeared in 2021; it featured the singles “Elephants,” “Always,” and “Juan Belmonte” and presented the initial full picture of their indie-driven approach. The follow-up album Burn the Empire arrived the next year and contained the successful single “End of the Road,” which featured Rachel Chinouriri.
Once the promotional cycle for Burn the Empire concluded, the Snuts left Parlophone to launch their own label, Happy Artist Records. Millennials became the first album issued on that imprint; it was preceded by a full year of singles and produced by Scotty Anderson and Jack Cochran.
