The Hunna emerged from Hertfordshire, England, with a soaring, anthemic style of indie rock that brought swift acclaim across the U.K. Their first full-length release, 100, entered the Top 20, and the follow-up Dare matched that achievement when it appeared in 2018; the same chart success greeted 2020’s I’d Rather Die Than Let You In.

Singer/guitarist Ryan Potter, lead guitarist Dan Dorney, bassist Junate Angin, and drummer Jack Metcalfe quickly cultivated hometown support before enlisting producer Tim Larcombe, known for his work with Lana Del Rey and Halsey, to cut their first single. “Bonfires,” backed by the B-side “She’s Casual,” surfaced in October 2015 and aligned with the band’s initial support dates alongside Bristol-based Coasts. Much of the next year was spent tracking 100, which High Time issued later in 2016; the album reached number 13 on the U.K. chart. After headlining the Festival Republic Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals, the quartet began work on their second album, Dare, which improved on the debut’s position by peaking at number 12 in mid-2018.

Throughout 2019 the Hunna maintained an active touring schedule that included main-stage appearances at festivals such as Reading and Leeds, after which they ended their association with High Time. Their subsequent album, I’d Rather Die Than Let You In, was released on LMW Records in 2020. The following year brought the uplifting single “Bad Place,” intended to promote mental-health awareness, and the band’s fourth LP, the self-titled The Hunna, arrived in October 2022.
